The ISGB Release A Bead Project

Lampwork Beads in the Wild by the International Society of Glass Beadmakers

How to Participate

The Rules:

1. Choose your bead(s). Please make sure bead release has been cleaned out and beads annealed.

2. Download the information from the Label Your Bead page and attach it to a blank card. You may include your name and contact information on the label provided.

3. Place your bead and card in a clear plastic ziplock bag.

4. Release your bead.

Please avoid releasing your bead(s) at airports and in other places where it could be deemed inappropriate, hazardous, or dangerous.

Some release ideas:  Leave with a tip, on a hotel pillow, on a restroom door handle, on a park bench, at the library!  Let your imagination be your guide!

5. Let us know your story - the clues, the finding, etc. You can send information and photos (in jpeg or gif format) to info@releaseabead.com

A special release request:

The members of the International Society of Glass Beadmakers would like to generate excitement for our Gathering by giving away Bead Bazaar tickets with released beads in the Miami area. We need at least 100 beads that will be "seeded" in the Miami area. Please send some of your beads by the Deadline June 30, 2009 for this special release to:

The Release-a-Bead project continues to expand glass bead experiences all over the world. Through the donations of ISGB beadmakers, people from Copenhagen to Vermont, from Santa Cruz to New Zealand have found beads and posted on this website. This summer, we will be releasing beads in the Miami area to generate excitement about The Gathering and the Bead Bazaar. 100 of these beads will include “Golden Tickets” for a free entry to the Bead Bazaar for the lucky finder. Share your love of glass beads with a stranger—maybe he or she will fall in love just like you did!

Please make and send your bead (along with the form available on the RAB website) to:
